Journey To 5K

You may have already learned that I, Running Husband, really don’t care for running at all. As such, I really cannot explain my momentary lapse in judgement when I had the brilliant idea to sign up for my first 5k race as a surprise to Running Wife – who has been urging me to get more active.

Here on this page I will be sharing my journey from bona fide couch potato to hopefully 5k race survivor. It most likely won’t be pretty, but it will be honest.

For those that are interested, I read a little about the “Couch Potato to 5k” program and I like the overall program / concept, but I am putting my own little spin on things and doing it my way. Initially, I am keeping the embarrassing display confined to the elliptical machine at our house as this show isn’t ready for prime time – yet!

In addition, I am using the Run Keeper iPhone app to track my progress manually for now.

If you’re interested in any additional information, please just raise your hand and ask politely – or shout it at the top of your lungs. I’m open to encouragement as well, and I have a thick skin so if you want to mock me, that is fine too.

In an ideal world, the information above will serve as inspiration for even one other couch potato to get up off their rear and realize that anyone can do it. At a minimum, it has served as my motivation to keep progressing and working towards my goals.
